Here Bach arranges the same melody as in BWV 111/1; because of the text, however, the arrangement turns out much plainer. The melody sounds in an unadorned form in soprano, varied with a number of ritornellos with two parts that imitate one another. The composition shows similarity of the six triosonatas for organ (BWV 525 – 530), but with the addition of a cantus firmus.
